LETTERS

Hello dear friends,

Here it is, already the end of March – the month of feeling as if one can start afresh, spring beginning and my birthday month. Daffodils are blooming, bringing a smile to my face every time I see them. This month has been one of trials and blessings all mashed up together, but isn’t that the way of it?

That’s true for writing/editing as well. I’ve made splendid progress on editing Georgia, though not perhaps what I’d have liked or even needed to accomplish. It is coming together, however and I know that all the effort of strengthening the main plot and weaving sub-plots throughout, will be well worth it. My goal is to have it ready for my editor this spring with the intention of publishing this winter.

I am very excited to start sharing more with you about this story though! For now, I’ll just state that since it is still part of the City of Roses Collection, it’s set in Portland OR in the early 1900’s. Think the original suffrage movement; an orphanage; a police detective…

On weekends, I have pulled up a fantasy retelling that I’m playing around with – I’m thinking of having it be a novella. I also have started a short story – the first one I’ve attempted in a long time!

Aside from writing, I’ve been busy making crochet amigurumis for some upcoming markets. I’ve some plans for creating my own patterns as well but am holding off on that for another month at least. I am looking to sell Amelia at markets this year as well, so watch for updates on that!

As the weather slowly turns to spring, I feel like my motivation is picking up as well, to seek out adventures in this beautiful area I live in; gardening perhaps; driving my vintage Volkswagen around and soaking in God’s great love for His creation.

Thank you, friends, for joining me on this author journey, but even more, for joining me on this journey of life. Where there’s always something beautiful to be grateful for. Like a book to hold and be captivated by,

Laura Starr
